What does “Outdoor Living” mean??  I hear the phrase “Outdoor Living” thrown around in advertisements for big boxes (retailers) in an attempt to sell a grill or maybe even a patio set on the “side”.  Kinda like fast food establishments, these retailers are just looking for the quick and dirty fast sale on outdoor furniture/grill equipment designed for price not LIFESTYLE!  In fact, a majority of Americans who think of patio furniture think of what they see while checking out at their local grocery store (Umbrellas and Grills for $50 Bucks).

Like many consumable products in our world, the phrase “You get what you pay for” has been proven over and over again as you make product choices in your life. Outdoor Living products are NO DIFFERENT! Outdoor Living is not necessarily about the products as much as the LIFESTYLE of living at home!  You can create an outdoor environment that fosters a new “At Home LIFESTYLE”.

Think about this, your outdoor space (either deck, sunroom, patio, covered porch, whatever) should be a place to enjoy your family, where you don’t “hear” the news of the day..a place where the Blackberry and Email can’t find you..imagine a place where you can simply “decompress” from the stress of everyday life 🙂  You simply sit outside, with the cold/hot beverage of your choice (depending on the season) and listen to nature, help your kids with their homework, or simply watch a cracklin fire in your outdoor fireplace!

A place where friends/neighbors gather and reminisce about days gone by, or think about what is coming up in the future.  A place not to worry if the kids spill their juice all over the furniture, a place to create memories by way of backyard BBQs and/or roasting marsh-mellows over the fire pit.

Outdoor living is much more than the cheap patio set/grill at your local big box hardware store…it’s about YOUR LIFE.  It’s about making small changes in your lifestyle at home to bring some peace and sanity for the next day..think of it as a “mini” vacation (maybe for a hour or two) before you have to get back to your individual grind.

Start with your space…what does it “need” to make you more comfortable.  If it’s too hot…you can take care of that (umbrellas, outdoor fans, etc.).  Does the furniture in your space fit your needs?  Are you able to create great tasting food on the grill in your outdoor area (eating and outdoor living just go hand in hand). Are the bugs driving you crazy (we can take care of that)?  Is the environment conducive to taking a nap?

Creating a new “At Home Lifestyle” is the idea…your outdoor area should encompass all the quality products to help foster this new Outdoor Living Lifestyle!
