Here in Atlanta, we are just now getting over a massive snow storm (6 inches of snow).  It’s hard to believe that just 6 inches of snow, and some cold weather can completely “cripple” a major metro area such as Atlanta…but after some thought, the metro areas here simply don’t have the equipment, manpower, and know-how of dealing with ice/snow.  So…the only thing the metro area could do is simply close down (ultimately the schools were closed for the entire week).  Everybody stayed at home, and lots of fun to be had with make-shift sleds and tumbling downhills at the local park or golf course.

Now from my own personal experience, sledding is fun for about a half-day or so….and it was too darn cold just to stay outside to hangout (15-25 degrees all day long)…so millions of people in Atlanta spent time inside the house.  We watched movies, played Wii, organized closets, caught up on laundry, etc. which was good.  However, after about two days of being cooped inside the house with the kids…a solid case of Cabin Fever really started to sink in.  It made us think how nice it is to have warmer weather (most of the year)…to get back outside again!

An Outdoor Lifestyle at our home is HUGE!  We really enjoy being outside watching the kids play on the trampoline or kick soccer balls around the yard.  Meanwhile, we hang out around the outdoor fireplace, with some fantastic appetizers and drink good wine (not exceeding $20).  Maybe even have the neighbors over to complain about other neighbors on the street.  We really miss our Outdoor Living space when the weather is too darn cold in the winter!

I guess you chalk it up to not really missing something in your life until you can’t have it…and when/if that something returns you have a much GREATER appreciation for it.  Never thought a life lesson could be related to our business??

So now the temperature is back to mid 50’s again…and low 30’s at night…so it feels like summer compared to last week’s “Winter Storm 2011″…although it’s not Spring/Summer yet…we can’t wait to get back to our Outdoor Living Lifestyle again!  BTW..we left all our outdoor cushions outside during the entire snow storm..with Sunbrella fabric and a Dacron Filling…NO WORRIES about 6 inches of snow on everything (thought I needed to throw that in)!
