Hargrove Gas Logs

The best type of gas logs for your fireplace can depend on several factors, including your personal preferences, the type of fireplace you have, and your budget. Here are a few common types of Hargrove Gas Logs:

  1. Ceramic Fiber Logs: These logs are typically lighter in weight and can provide A LOT of radiant heat. They are made from ceramic fibers molded to resemble natural wood logs. They offer great heat retention and hand painted and textured to look like real wood.
  2. Refractory Ceramic Logs: These traditional logs are heavier and denser than ceramic fiber logs. Refractory logs are made from a kiln dried ceramic material that can withstand high temperatures. They are molded  often look very realistic and can provide a more authentic appearance of burning wood.
  3. Vent-Free Gas Logs: These types of logs are designed to burn without a chimney (or chimney closed) and are highly efficient because they produce more convection heat (hot air) that stays within the room. Vent free logs require to only be burned for 2-4 hours maximum as indoor air is being used for combustion.  Indoor air quality must be really good to avoid extra odors created by these types of gas logs.  These systems can be great for adding extra convection heat to a cold portion of the house (basement, etc).
  4. Vented Gas Logs: Vented gas logs provide a realistic flame appearance, but will lose convection heat up the chimney.  These logs sets are burning “dirty” compared to vent free logs so all emissions from combustion must escape the home.   However, these Hargrove logs sets do provide immense amounts of radiant heat into your living space, which is a very real type of fireplace heat.  Just like burning wood in the fireplace, vented gas logs require a fully functional chimney to operate safely.
